Ah, but does RH refer to the thread or to the side on which it's to be mounted? Ditto for LH.

For the spinners noted in the picture, RH refers to the right hand side (passenger) and LH refers to left hand side. Don't know how that relates to right hand and left hand threads, never understood which one tightened which way. I know on the 52 Plymouth I had in high school, the passenger side lugs turned counter clockwise to tighten. I always had to stop and think about it when taking off a wheel.

You'd find out right quick if you tried to put a RH thread spinner on a LH threaded adapter.

I'm in the camp that believe is doesn't matter which side goes with which thread but I don't suggest anyone do other than the instructions. I have. I saw no problem.

I know what happens if an attempt is made to put a RH thd spinner on a LH thd adapter.

I asked the question because the KOs I have aren't like the ones in the pic and I have no first hand experience with the ones you show.

This is not a perfect world! But for those that are confused about which is what, best get some spinners like these.

I have a car with center lock hubs. The easy way to remember how to tighten is to remember the phrase "Tight ***" The knock-off should tighten when rotated toward the rear of the car.

Edit: Found the (original) KO wheel instruction card that came with a 65 that I once owned. I'm pretty sure reproductions are available.

Those instructions about the 8 good whacks always had me wonder.......Wouldn't the 6'5", 250lb guy's 8 whacks be quite different than the 5'3" 145lb guy's 8 whacks.? I give mine a lot more than 8, and also make sure they were started when off the ground so they seat properly, then finish them on the ground to get them good and snug.....Just makes me feel good anyway..!

It "seems" like you must be talking about sewing or something??

Well, I suppose that's why some wheels fall off because they're not tight enough and some crack around the nut seat because Bruno the gorilla installed them.

I can hear when my KO spinners are tight when I hit it with the hammer. They make a different sound when they get to around the correct torque.

Well, I'll try this again. My post disappeared.
The instruction card above, plus the adaptors are marked, use the correct long lug nuts, the spinners are marked. How can anyone not get this right? But, it won't go away here for some reason.

I don't have a 64 AIM her to find the revision but I think the first sets of KO's installed at St Louis were installed with the original length/short lug nuts. KO wheels could easily be installed incorrectly, over the lug nuts instead of being correctly indexed over the pins. That's why the long nuts were added in production.

I think you're right about the adapters being marked left or right?

When I first dropped in here to the CF about ten years ago, it seemed like half the pictures of cars with KO wheels had the adapters/spinners on the wrong side.

I think I know why the KO spinners were shown as being on the wrong side in many early release GM photos. I have the original print for the early release spinner and only one part number is shown but the OFF characters with arrow would be stamped depending on which thread it would have, left or right.
In all the GM photos that 427 sidepipes posted, (post #13) all the spinners on the right side are correct but those on the left side appear to be incorrect for that side. Just like in my print. Only one side was made but threaded either left or right and the correct arrow added to the stamped OFF characters.
I think we figured it out.

Yeah, it’s been a few months since we last had a good old knock off wheel free for all.

it’s a regular event.
