Upgrading to LED headlamps and ran into a problem.. With the Low Beams on the Left headlamp is very bright
as it should be, but the Right headlamp is very dim.
When I press the High Beam floor switch BOTH Left headlamps work correctly and Both Right headlamps do not
illuminate.
Had a similar issue with the halogen lamps and hoped new headlamps would fix the issue. I am new to this car.
Could it be a bad floor switch? I seem to recall 'all' flows through that switch??
No it can't be the dimmer switch it's all on one wire. The most likely thing is as they told you the ground either on the socket or at the wheel well where the connector is for that side. Look for some corrosion on the sockets both places
I assume I follow the wire back from the headlight buckets until I see a ground wire attached to the radiator support
as suggested by the first reply or wheel well as you suggest. Assume I disconnect, clean up contact and reconnect.
There's a black wire on the inside lamp socket (bright bulb) that runs over to the outside bulb socket (dim/bright bulb, two filament) and then to the connector in the wheel well. The black wire comes out of that connector and goes to a screw on the radiator support for a ground. Any place that the connection is corroded or the wire broken will cause the symptoms you are seeing.
What LED headlamps did you use and where did you get them?
Did you have to modify anything to fit them into the lamp buckets?
Are they low beam and high beam on the outer bulbs, like the halogens were?
Can you send a close up photo of the front and back of the LED Lamp? are all 4 the same connectors on back? Normally the low beams have a three prong connector (Low and High Beam function) on back and the high beams have a two prong connector on back.
One other thought. did you notice that the headlight plugs were wired differently on the passenger side in the driver's side? Pay attention to the wire color and not the position in the connector. I don't deal with LEDs, so I don't know if you may have a polarity problem instead of a ground problem.
It was the connection on the right (passenger) wheel well that was the issue. Cleaned the connector and added dielectric
grease to connection and Wa..La... it all worked! Many thanks..
BTW ... I am an Architect and just started the design of a multi-family project in your home town. Will look at street names
and get back to you..
Attached is my Amazon order for reference. The LED bulbs (lamps) are three prong and have both HIGH
and LOW Beams. When installing the OUTTER Headlamps I used all Three prongs, for the INNER Headlamps
I bent back the middle prong and plugged into the Two prong connector. The second part of my order was
for the glass headlamps setup to receive an H4 modern replaceable bulb. The LED lamps are 6500 Kelvin
(very white) and rated at 30,000 hours of usage.
Normal Headlights you have the OUTTER Headlamps on LOW Beam..... But... when you hit the floor switch
for the High Beams you get all FOUR headlamps on High Beam ....! Can't wait to try it out tonight.
The good news is the power usage has gone way down on the system and the results are 10 times better!
Small clarification when you hit the High Beam switch you get all FOUR Headlamps on LOW & HIGH Beam
At the same time, for a total for Four elements lighting the road.

I looked these up on Amazon, and it looks like they will work nice, and are certainly very reasonably priced, my question is how easy is the fitment? Are those pigtail plugs any issue? :Is there enough room for them and any concerns when they rollover?
Thanks in advance...

How did your test drive work out? Would like to know if they worked as you thought. Also Oaker57 asked if there were any problem with those bulbs being extra long fitting in the headlight buckets, no issues? Thanks Ric

Wonderful lighting of road, so much better than Halogen lamps. No issue with length of 'bulb' or installation. NO flicker that is sometimes an issue with LED conversion kits.
Would recommend this to anyone that might get caught or desire to drive their vintage corvette at night.
Please for the sake on oncoming drivers, aim those headlights at a blank wall at night to make sure you're not blinding other drivers. I have tested numerous LED bulbs intended for retrofitting into a reflector style housing and found none that provide properly focused illumination. I've tested projector bulbs, two, three and four sided configurations and none correctly match what the housing was designed for...a centered filament.

Yep, without projector lenses to direct the light you are generating an excessive amount of glare for oncoming traffic. You'll know when they flash their brights at you.
