My 63 has a AM&FM radio in it.
A AM & FM Radio was not available in 63 I have been told. What does the correct radio go for now day? What is the AM & FM worth? I just want a idea of the cost. I want my Corvette to be correct.

Early 63s came with a Wonder Bar AM radio. Sometime during the production the am/fm became available. I not sure of the serial number break but someone with be able to offer that. Can you post a picture of your radio?

Here ya go.
- The addition of capacitors
- The antenna cable is different
- The mounting plate under the left rear fender is steel for AM
- The mounting plate under the left rear fender is aluminum for AM/FM and it is larger
- The connections for AM/FM under the left rear fender are different

If I recall in a earlier post this car had a early VIN (4???) comes to mind but he had purchased a set of frosted hubcaps that were supposedly correct for build date. That being the case AM/FM not available then. If my memory is wrong I stand by to be scolded. begee22

I am the original owner of my Vette, #9407. It was built towards the end of February, 1963. I will always remember the original AM- wonderbar radio since it was out of the car more than it was in since it needed to have the wonderbar function serviced. I still have this radio but now have upgraded to a better radio that has a search function that works, AM/FM capability and I can listen to my music on my IPOD.

I did NOT order the AM/FM radio for my 63 however it came with it. My car is a mid-May car.

Andy thank you for your interest in our ride.
I do not have any paperwork from the early days. It was not important to me to keep and preserve. Our Vettes were probably built the same day. Pretty cool!!!
I am the original owner of my '63 triple black convertible and took possession of it on Feb.27, 1963. I placed my order the first week of Oct, 1962.
My engine was built on Feb. 2, 1963. My Vette was delivered to Rapids Chevrolet in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Feb. 25, 1963. I was 18 years old when I stared buying it. I paid every dime on it but did need Dad (with Mom's approval) to cosign the loan.
I ordered 340HP, 4 speed (T10), positraction, 4:11 gears, hardtop, AM radio, white wall tires. Still have the original engine (not currently under the hood), transmission, hardtop, radio.
Below are some links to our story and ride.
