Default Bulb Socket I D

Can’t seem to figure out where this socket plugs into. 1966. No bulb found in it but I believe it houses a #57 bulb. All other gauge holes are filled with fixtures. See pic.

On my 1966 that bulb with the black plastic housing is plugged into the back of the instrument panel in the center just below the hi beam indicator. Also ,,,don't forget you have lamps plugged into the ignition switch and on the side of the cigarette lighter

All dash lights seem to be illuminating. Headlights and park brake dash lights work. I’ll check high beam indicator light. Not sure about ignition switch light. I replaced entire cigarette lighter housing, so that light works. As 66jack stated about clock...I do believe that is not working.

Just got home and took a look under dash. Clock lights ok, radio bulb is a metallic housed bulb different from plastic socket. That leaves an ignition bulb as Paul1966 stated. But where does this socket plug into?

The back of the ignition switch as a metal plate with a hole in it about the diameter of a circle that the prongs on the socket will fit into.

Yes, that's the ignition switch light bulb socket and you are going to need a new one. It's different from all the other dash light sockets, which have a steel housingh snap into a sheet metal hole in the back of the cluster. I bought one over a year ago from Eckler's but I haven't installed it yet. Their number is 398778.

No such bracket near or around the ignition switch. Maybe an aftermarket switch or p o just left it off. Switch does look newer. I will replace with a correct switch of get correct bracket. Ray...Yes the bulb socket is ng. Thanks.

A push and twist socket like that is usually on an aftermarket gauge or radio. They are used on all my boat gauges.

That should plug into the ignition switch. You probably have the wrong switch.

Your pic shows the correct switch with the light housing. I have the right switch but just without the light option. Saw some nos #686 for about $200.
