Default Engine and Trans display Cradle

Guys, I am thinking about mounting my original engine and transmission for display purposes.
My question is: Does anyone make a stand to mount the combo or are they all custom built ? The motor is on a stand now but it is bolted to the back of the block so it would interfere with the trans mounting..

A simple steel stand with a post that go to the motor mounts and the trans mount is all you would need add steel castors and it will be mobile.

I would say custom built.

This style stand would support the engine with out bellhousing interference but you would probably want a separate trans support at its mount.

I agree that this style would be a good start, but a third support should be added at the trans mount. If the cantilevered aspect of this support bothers you, you can achieve the same thing buy purchasing a 4-legged engine cradle like this one and then cutting off the two rear supports. You would still need to add a third support at the transmission mount:

When I wanted to support an engine with the bellhousing attached so I could align the bellhousing with the engine out of the car, I purchased one of the above 4-legged stands and modified the two rear supports to leave the bellhousing flange accessible. This worked fine for attaching just a flywheel and bellhousing, but I don't think it would be a good idea to use this approach with a complete transmission attached. While the weight of the transmission would not be sufficient to tip the assembly, the assembly probably could get tipped if someone stepped on or sat on the tail of the transmission. If this is going to be a display setup that sits around for years and is exposed to lots of people, you should probably make sure that it's idiot-proof-stable.

Keep in mind that your 3-point support setup does not need to be fabricated entirely from steel. The simplest possible arrangement might be to purchase one of the above stands for supporting the engine at the engine mounts, some 3/4" plywood to make a platform for mounting all three supports, and some 2"x4" lumber for fabricating the transmission support. A set of castors would make the assembly easy to move around.

These work great and without a support on the HEAVY 4L65E and T/converter

I have even started it on the stand
