My 63 fuel injected Vett continues to have tachometer cable failures. Have replace at least 3 in last couple of years. The cables from regular Corvette suppliers just seem too long which may be contributing to ongoing failures.
Any thoughts or ideas?? Anyone else having a similar problem?

There are 2 sizes I have seen on line. I only buy the longest-it seems the shorter would be just that, to short. Failure for my cable seems to be when a square end gets spun round, so a deeper connection seems better. Now for the obvious--I wonder if you were to manually turn the cable in the fuel injection unit, does it turn with minimal resistance?. I have pulled out and opened the mechanism that gets turned by the cable. After cleaning, I found I had to get it back together in exactly the way it came apart or it turned with difficulty. That may be worth looking at it it doesn't turn smoothly.

Like most reproduction parts there is always something wrong that does not match OEM specifications.
I bought the Paragon repros only to find they are to long and the end treatments is not anything like the original. I ended up reusing my original speedo cable and finding a orignal tach cable at Carlisle and installing an AC inner cable repair kit. The complete cable fit normal and seems fine.
There is a guy that has been mentioned here before that makes exact reproductions of the speedo and tach cables. Been in business for years. They have been used without issues. You can try a search here to see if you can find the name.............or let me know and I will find it for you in my files..........but I cannot locate it right now.
