The 61 I recently purchased really needed new window regulators as the old ones needed "help" to get up or down. The best prices I could find for replacements were $189 for driver's and $199 for passenger's. (these are manual crank windows).
While parts hunting at the Turkey Rod Run, came across a vendor who sells power window conversion kits for street rods and old cars. I went in just to look, and lo and behold he had kits for C1 and C2 Corvettes. Heat treated steel gears new Delco motors. His regular price for the complete installation kit is normally $465. He was knocking $25 off for the show. Well since my buddy with be has '59, we asked what he would do for two kits. His reply: $400 each. What a deal.
The kit comes with two regulators, motors, switches, and harness. The switches look very much like GM style switches of the time. You get a single switch for the passenger side and a double for the drivers.
Can't beat it for the money. Since they're not a Forum sponsor, I will refrain from posting the company's name here. However if anyone would like to know, email me and I'll send it back in an email.
7,
No all this guy sells is power window units. He was in one of the aisles near the center lake. Has them for just about any old car you can think of.
I agree, the weather couldn't have been any better except it was a little chilly cruisin along Atlantic Blvd friday night with the top down.
I think it's OK to give out the information here, even for non-sponsors. I've done it a whole bunch of times for Mary Jo, Clockworks, etc. That way, when someone checks the archives a year from now, if your e-mail address changed, the info is still here.
That is a good deal! The wiring harness alone from Lectric Limited is $120. You have mail from me, too!
Well Mike,
I'll post it and see what happens. The company is:
Nu-Relics Power Windows
6621 Old Hwy 421
East Bend NC 27018
Ph 336-699-8949
They make them for a variety of old cars.
Cynthia,
Yes the car arrived safe and sound. Actually it rained all day the day of the show so I doubt I would have driven it there anyway.
How is your car doing? Have you found any correct seats yet?
I've bought some parts from Mary Jo in California. She's well stocked on straight axle parts. Maybe give her a call.
