I have a 62 Vette. Ever since I bought her she starts hesitating after driving for a while and then when I give her gas she stalls out. If I let her cool down a while she will start back up again. I have changed out the fuel pump, fuel lines new radiator and still having the same problem. It seems to happen once she goes above 200 on temp gauge. Any ideas on the root cause?
That.
Also, make sure you’re getting good coolant circulation. My ‘62 block was pretty congested with years of crud. Took lots of lengthy/multiple flushing to clean it up. Be advised, if you do longer term chemical flushing and your heater core leaks are sealed with the same gunk that’s congesting your engine, it will probably begin to leak. (I know!) Good posts can be found on effective flushing and heater core replacement. Both snotty jobs. Jim
Just another thought. Happened on my '63 & '66. With similar circumstances the engine would stall. Very long story short, changed ballast resistor, problem solved. We all know the what effect heat can have on electrical components. Many statements on the forum about the resistor either being good or bad. Be careful, many electrical components can also exhibit intermittent failures.
