When replacing the motor/transmission in my '65, I am having a problem with the motor and transmission mounts lining up. When I took it apart, one of the motor mounts were broken. Now, it looks like the frame extension (where the motor mount bolts with the one long bolt) on the driver's side is about 1/4" too far to the rear. I conformed this by measuring from the frame extensions to the crossmember - they definitely aren't equal.
Anyone ever have to deal with this? Any other solutions that might not be obvious?
I'm thinking that I might need to grind the weld and bend this extension and reweld, but does anyone have measurements that can be used as reference points to make sure the whole frame isn't tweaked?
Re: C2 Engine mount (frame extensions) question (jkmhb)
It is a common problem for them to be bent in a collision, but since the engine does not sit in the center of the frame, the mount brackets are not exactly the same.
