Default 1960 ignition shielding

Test fitting the ignition shielding on my 60 project car. I know the top gets a bolt vs a wing bolt (hood clearance?). But what else gets a bolt? Reproduction catalogs say 3 bolts required per car.

Thanks for the diagram. Helpful for sure. Looks like the top shield has all three as hex bolts vs wing bolts.
Makes sense…those rear bolts are a stinker to get to.

Where is the J Nut supposed to go? It is listed in some parts dealers as "J Nut RH Vertical"

The "J" nut IIRC holes the RH vertical shielding to the horizontal spark plug shielding at the very bottom and holds a wing nut (which is item 658 in the lower left of the above drawing)..

That is exactly correct.
The ONLY thing fun about installing ignition shielding, is closing the hood and walking away!

I had no trouble installing the shielding but I discovered that removing and replacing the spark plugs was a time consuming, painful and bloody affair. Removing the shielding took time and the tabs from the Ex Manifold just cut my hands all to hell to make working on the plugs a pain.
I kept the top shield over the distributor but abandoned the plug shields---kept the wire to block shields as well.
I dont miss the plug shields at all. <y hands are happy and the radio does not notice the absence of shielding at all.

If you have the AIM check Section 12 Sheet 10. If you have a 283 block then, from what I remember, the the rubber tipped wire clips go below 1-3 and 2-4 for the plug wires. 5-7 and 6-8 didn't use them. The single clips are bolted on with the starter on one side and the oil pan on the other.
This is for a 58 I believe but it should be the same on a 57.

I think you'll find that the '57 uses a 'U' shaped plug wire cover on the sides of the block rather than the clips.
