I know this has been done to death, but am thinking of buying these. Has anyone else bought them--they are pretty expensive for me--so wanted to know if they worked out all right for others.
I don't see well at night--old eyes--so need something bright for when I drive after dark.
If these did not work for you, what did?
I am only putting in the low-beam location and will leave the regular hi-beams as they are (and probably never use them) after I refresh both buckets with new hardware and aim them.
I have LEDs in both high and low beam. I rarely drive my C2 after dark because it gets plastered with bugs. But if I have to, these lights are 10x brighter than original T3s and they don't suddenly burn out like T3s tend to do half way home. Yes they cost money but what is the value of your car in comparison and do you really want to see that big 100# coon or worse a big buck crossing the road while you still have time to slow? Just saying. Bill
I have a set of lo/hi beams in my car and they work very well, a whole lot better than stock. I already had the H4 lens so I just bought the 2 bulbs. Their website offers a coupon code all the time so I think I got them shipped to me for ~$100 total.
I just ordered a set of bulbs only to try in my Cibie H4 e-code enclosures on my '61. These are the first LED bulbs I have seen specifically designed for e-code pattern sharp cutoff reflector style enclosures.
Thanks, guys, for all the replies. Yes, the cost/benefit analysis is important. I just want to make sure that I buy ones that will do the job and not have to spend that kind of $$ two or more times.
Received the LED bulbs from Vintage Car LEDs. My old H4 55W Halogen bulb is on the right. The new H4 LED bulb is on the left. Huge difference. These are Cibie e-code enclosures with a sharp cutoff and will not blind oncoming traffic.
I just installed low beams only on my 63 resto-mod from Vintage LEDs and while I initially had problems getting them to fit, I got them to work. The issue is my car sits at least 2 inches lower than stock and with the top adjustment cranked all the way back they would not fit. With the LEDs I was able to adjust the lights lower and still provide excellent lighting. I did try to contact Matt McEntire (Co-Owner) during the first install 3 times with out a return while requesting a call tag. Purchase with your eyes open.

What bulbs are they? I have never seen bulbs specifically for e-code housings.
Thanks
Tom

So, are the bulbs a direct replacement for Cibie? That is what I have in my 65. I love them but am always looking to improve. Eyes aren't getting any better as the time goes on.
You guys got me thinking. I want more light at night as well. So I checked on Aliexpress. As most of this stuff comes from China anyway you can eliminate the middleman and buy direct. Ordered a set of 2 bulbs for 10 bucks
Will take a few weeks till they arrive. Will let you know how that experiment turns out...
They snap in to the Cibie headlight exactly like a halogen bulb. Your only issue may be that because they are 3/8" longer than a halogen H4 bulb you may not have the clearance needed from the back of the bulb wiring harness plug to the C2 headlight bucket that the headlight is mounted in. An H4 halogen bulb in my Cibies had sufficient clearance but when I test fit the LEDs there was not quite enough clearance so I am cutting a hole in the headlight bucket like I did to provide the clearance for my hi beam H1 bulbs. A water tight 55mm rubber boot is inserted into the hole to keep the road crud from getting in. I purchased the LED boots on Ebay. Lots of miles on the H1 boots with no issues. As soon as I get the LEDs permanently mounted I will post a down the road night time pattern pic of the halogen bulbs vs the LED bulbs.

Ok. I guess I misunderstood what you were saying. The bulbs you used are LED H4. Not really e-code specific. The Cibie and Hella lights have an e-code light pattern. The bulb is just a replaceable H4 bulb. Be it halogen or LED. I have the Hellas in my 65 and have been using LED H4 bulbs for about a year. Very bright but I do have some shadows in the light pattern. They are still better than halogen bulbs IMO. I got the bulbs from Amazon and they fit fine. No mods to the bulbs, lamp housings or headlight buckets.
