Default Screw size help please

The choke is hanging up on my 1967 L-79. I found an incorrect screw retaining the remote choke spring. The correct part number is 159853. I'd like to run to the local hardware store and get this resolved today and am asking for the size and pitch of the screw to find a replacement.

This picture was borrowed from another thread on the forum and shows the choke spring attaching screw.

Thank you,

Bill

This might help. Paragon Corvette has the whole choke coil with the screw. If you call them, they might be able to tell you the specs. Dennis

My guess is a 8/32.

Default Choke spring screw

Yes, thank you for your help. It looks like it's an 8-32 1/4"

A little more length will help..........as the top few threads are usually well worn. I think 3/8 or 1/2 inch is the right answer. I believe that I did the extra length (3/8 inch) last year when I replaced mine. Buy one of each length and see.

No certain of the diameter..........if not #8, it should be a #10. Also not sure of thread count........as #10 has both coarse and fine.

Screws are cheap..........buy a few of each and try them.

Probably not much help to you today.

Default Worn threads

Yes, the first few threads in the intake were worn. The longer screw was able to bite with plenty left and it tightened down nicely. Now the choke works as designed. Thank you
