Default C2 Development

"Mitchell was particularly influenced by one record speed car that he had seen at the Turin motor show in 1957. The car had a wedge shape characterized by a sharp crease around it's perimeter. Bulges were incorporated above the wheel wells to accommodate the tires within the relatively flat top shape of the car."

The Fiat-Abarth 500, later 750, 1100, and 800 (with slight body modifications)
Also seen at the Turin motor shows beginning in 1953, 1954, and 1955 were the BAT 5, the BAT 7, then finally the BAT 9.
Roofline and rear window remind you of anything? I thought the C2 roofline came from the Golden Rocket (GM concept car), but I have to wonder a little.

Notice the raised rib running down the roofline and between the rear windows, on the BAT 7 and 9, which looks alot like the 63 SWC design feature. Better pictures of these cars make it more obvious that the rear ends of these cars really look more "Batmobile-esk" that can be seen here, but I am trying to give some food for thought and discussion here.
More on the C2 development later. Anyone have a PICTURE of the Q-corvette?

I stopped by the shop yesterday, and the car is still sitting, covered, while everyone was standing around. I'm told how slow everyone is in the industry lately. They have this car, unlimited time to work on said car, me, who does all the leg work and proper parts aquisition, my open mind to any suggestions, and the crew that for some reason has plenty of time to stand around because things are slow. So, to answer your question, no, the clutch is not fixed. The gas tank hasn't been pulled to install the sump so we can finish up the fuel system and do the 3" exhaust that I designed so the frame doesn't have to be altered and the pipes won't rattle so we can be done with the underside of the car and finish the interior and install the distributer and fire this monster up so I can finally after 4 years and seven months take this car HOME.

Was I ranting? Sorry.

The car will get put up on the rack next week for the clutch. We can only hope for the rest to be addressed soon.

Hey, thanks for asking about the car. I appreciate the input you have given me over this period of EONS the car has been in.

Man I was hoping for better news!

I always wonder how the rest of us work on specific deadlines and have to do what is necessary to make it happen, when many others don't feel the need.

I usually rank them as the worst being "paint guys", next is "machine shop guys" and then comes restoration types. They all feel fine with starting nine different projects and never finishing any of them on time.

Hopefully it gets better after your visit. I think I'm almost as anxious as you to see it out and about.

Of course I'm going through withdrawals because mine is still scattered too. But at least my progress can only be blamed on me and work obligations. It's incomprehensible when you are PAYING someone to do the work! You'd think they'd want to get it done wouldn't you?

Good luck,'

Yeah, it's still at Carney's Corvettes. We have the clutch situation lined out, the fuel system i.e. gas tank sump and pump and return all figured out design and work wise, have the exhaust ironed out, all the pieces, flow masters, etc., seats, radio, clock, all ready to install, dist., MSD, all the electrics ready, master cylinder is ready- never could locate someone who makes a 6" booster for power brakes so I will have to go with standard brakes. Everything is ready.
