I’m planning my next couple installs as I’m resurrecting a ‘64 convertible. I searched but could not find anything on someone installing a seat heater in the old seats. I’m sure there are many of you that thought about it. There must be some of you that actually took the step of installing them. What product did you use? Did you have any electrical issues? Did you also put a heater in the back section of the seat? Seems like a nice idea, and will help keep my wife happy on cold mornings!
Do a search on Amazon for Universal seat heater. There are hundreds of them. Just get the size that you need, and make sure that you install between the foam and the cover, NOT on the metal springs. You can put them in the bottom, and the back. Several models come with some nice switches. I've done a couple of them on spec cars, but we really don't need them in Florida. I think that Al Knoch sells them also. https://smile.amazon.com/s?k=univers...ref=nb_sb_noss

I just can't even conceive of the need for such things, in a 56 year old weekend cars & coffee car. Especially in Houston. The average low temp in Houston is nearly 50.
Even when it very rarely gets down into the 30s, will you really be taking the 64 out in that?
Just curious.
I put seat heaters in my 65. They were similar to the ones in the posted links. Two heat levels high and low. I did the bottom and back on both seats. I modified the switching sightly so I could turn on the backrest only or back and bottom. It feels good on a sore back and the seat bottom heat is not necessary all the time. The 65 is a driver and not a car show/cars and coffee car. I use the heaters allot here in Maryland. Go for it.
I agree with Sky65. I changed my seats to Fiero seats but it shouldn’t matter. I put in the following Dorman heaters. They work great and are not very costly. They have a high and low function which is great.
To 65hihp, we here in Southern California are real Weenies. So if the tempature dips below an incomprehensible 60 degrees, I will take my roadster out with the top down but I put the seat heaters on. All is good!
I've had seat heaters in my 67 ragtop for around 15 years. I got one of the no-name sets online and put them in myself, including a second time when I reupholstered the seats in leather. The install is easy with existing seat covers: remove seats from car, cut hog rings and remove covers, lay heating elements on seat bottoms and back, squeeze new hog rings in place, reinstall seats. My heaters are powered by leads from the battery, with relays behind the side panels on either side of the center console. I mounted the two-position switches in unobvious spots on the side panels that I can easily reach while driving. Seat heaters are definitely a neat feature, esp. in cooler weather driving with the top down; SUV inmates look at you bug-eyed as they pass by in uncomprehending mental turmoil.
Hmmm, time to get some spray dye and hit those side panels again.

I doubt I take it out in the 30s, but at night or in the morning it may be chilly and I’d rather keep the wife warm and happy! Heck- I might even turn on the switch once in a while!
I think the various switch installations look great. I did something much more simple. I simply put each switch in the gap between the seat bottom and the arm rest. Here is the picture of the drivers side. It is hard to make out the switch in the picture —it is in the seat gap to the left of the top cup holder. It works fine for me and really is not noticeable unless you are looking for it—which I like.
although not a corvette i have added them to both beetles i have built. (will also be in the corvette i am working on now as well)
i think i used the same as everyone else just the generic ones that can be trimmed to size..
as others have said i think the placement is key to keeping them inconspicuous.
i love them
