Thats unlikely. Are you sure its "A64",or is it "AS4" which is the American Standard rating for the window. Does your stamp say "PLEXIGLAS", then directly below it "ACRYLIC" then directly below that "AS4"? If so you have a 2nd style window from 65-67. The date code will be a 2-letter code ... 1st letter is at the 8 o'clock position and the 2nd letter is at the 2 o'clock position surrounding the PLEXIGLAS ACRYLIC AS4 stamp. In the example I've attached, the date is "AF" which is Jan 66. Bill

you are correct, it is hard to read, but with a magnifying glass it does show all the items you indicated. I purchased this top from a member here who thought it was an original 67 top, with red headliner and red sides and trim, It looks almost new, must of sat in a garage for a long time. thought it might be a 67 due to the vinyl, but it was a popular and easy add to any year hardtop. thanks again for the info.
Much appreciated

Default 1966 Hard Top Date Code

I have looked on the bottom left cornerr for this code, could not find anything.
I think the top is original and the plexiglass has not been change. lol
The interior of the top is prestine. It is Blue that matches the color of the dash.

Here is a photo of the lower left corner of my hardtop plexiglass

First one of you who comments on the crud in the window gets put on Santa's naughty list.

I just purchased the car last Friday and the hard top hadn't been used in 10+ years. It was COVERED with about a quarter inch of dirt on the inside. I haven't had time to get in there and clean it.

Ted, you have a Jan 65 dated rear window in that hardtop. When was your car built? Bill

My car is a 1966. Id need to look at the body tag to decode when exactly. Knowing the plexi is dated January... it seems like a reach that the top would be original to a 66 car. My car was shipped as soft top delete / hard top only car, so we know it came with a hard top. Maybe not this hard top

With that in mind, you shouldn't have any chrome latches on your rear deck lid ... just the 2 holes for the hardtop bolts. The underside of your decklid will have the conv top latch holes cut out in the underside frame, but not the top skin. If you put a picture of your tags we can tell you everything they say. Bill

That's correct, I do not have the chrome latches for the soft top. I only have two holes which are filled with two chrome rings accompanied by chrome buttons to fill the holes when the top is removed.

I posted the trim and vin tags in a parallel thread.

So you have an AO Smith body (A-8272) built Jun 27/66 (K27). Mosport green (982) with green vinyl (430). I think the window in your hard top is too early to be the original for your car since its dated almost 18 months earlier. Bill

Great info. Can you tell me if these were dated when they were manufactured or were they dated when mated to the car? just wondering how much time they might of sat around. i.e. a Plexi date of Aug 64 on a early model 65 car

The Plexi window was dated when it was manufactured; it was later shipped to St. Louis or Ionia and subassembled into the hardtop. Note the rack of painted hardtop frames awaiting subassembly and installation on the Trim Line.
