I've had Hagerty since forever and never have had a claim so I have no experience on which to base any comparisons. I recently inquired in an RV group for insurance recommendations and a few suggested trying Auto Owners Insurance along with the usual of USAA, Progressive and Geico for our RV. We currently have Geico for our vehicles including the RV but their rates are higher than USAA and Auto Owners so am considering a change. They have very similar in rates to Progressive and while Progressive will issue a separate policy (through USAA) for the RV, they don't offer coverage for classics so there'd still be 3 separate policies.
My question is that Auto Owners will cover my vette for identical coverages to Hagerty for far less with a bundled policy with an agreed upon value of $70,000.
If you want great coverage at less $$$$ than Hagerty, call Adam at the National Corvette Museum. They will take care of you.
About the other companies:
1. Do you feel lucky??
2. If a accident occurs, will your adjuster be a fair and impartial "car guy" ??
3. Can you take to repair to anyone in the country??
4. Will the repair company use new/used original or NOS parts for the repair??
5. Will the paint work be show quality??
6. Are you sure of the stated policy "agreed value" being truly "agreed value" ??
If your other company will meet these requirements, then switch and save some money. Otherwise, call Adam or stay with Hagerty.

Perzactly.... I had a huge claim with NCM and they paid with no questions asked and even paid a supplemental claim later for hidden damage, no rate increase....and the adjuster was a C2 owner.
Based on this and Larry's insightful questions I wouldn't dick around with a company that I've never heard mentioned before on this site.
And have never had a claim, but they seem to be good to work with -- rates are reasonable, and they increased my policy & coverage when I had restoration / upgrades done w/ a few photos emailed.
Curious what other members experiences have been with American Collectors ??
I have American Collectors for my 66 and 68 Corvettes and 70 SS Chevelle. I have never had a claim so I don't have first hand claims experience with them. I do have "stacked" liability so my total liability is $900K. For my corporation I have had Auto Owners Insurance on my 10 cars for over 25 years. They have always paid claims. This past year I had one employee crash four cars of which two were totaled. Since he was a "protected or special class employee" I risked a law suit if I terminated him. They helped me by allowing me to keep the policy if I terminated the employee which allowed me to terminate him for cause. I did not know that Auto Owners had an antique policy. Jerry

Any horror stories or are they still great ?
I like NCM they are a good company but.........
I had declared value of 50k on a C5 with NCM and I wanted to bump it
to 60k. The underwriters would not do it. They are so use to stock cars.
I talked to American Collectors and they valued my hot rod at 75k. And I
pay less. You figure ? Now with the 66 I have it at 60k. I am hot rodding
that car and I will bump that one to 75k, maybe more.
If I have a stock vette I would go with NCM . I have hot rods I go with
AC and I pay less than if they were stock.
Have any of you had to provide an appraisal from a licensed appraiser to confirm agreed value?
Regarding American Collectors, I just got a quote from them and they're considerably higher than Hagerty and don't offer as high of coverages for certain items that I can get with Auto Owners insurance, specifically Personal Injury Protection and Medical Payments.
Ive used American Modern for many years, been happy with them. Ive never been asked for appraisals or anything like that on my collector cars' agreed values and Ive had many Corvettes and other cars.
State Farm required a certified appraisal on my car when I used them about 26 years ago. It was for "agreed value" collector/antique car. I did this. But I left them for Hagerty about 10 years later. No appraisal required. I have been with Hagerty for the last 16 years.......but the National Corvette Museum insurance is starting to look better and better.

I have Hagerty, 4 months into coverage I had a claim, 6500 in damage Hagerty was awesome, no haggle at all, my rate did not go up, 5 years later I will still recommend Hagerty.ian

NCM uses American Modern. We were going through AAA that also writes for AM. I'd rather see the margins go to NCM.
I had American Modern for years and my premium for my '60 declared value of $55K was $369/yr. I called Adam at the National Corvette Museum, he quoted me a lower price with American Modern with more coverage for $256.
I would call Adam immediately to save money and get great service.
I have Grundy for my collector cars. Yes they are expensive but they do know classics. The only big claim I've had is for paint issues on my '57 Ford about 12 years ago. They let me take it to a high end shop and didn't argue with the price.
I had a big claim with Hagerty, the adjuster came out in 2 days very very favorable estimate. The deal was done in a week my paint work was about $500 more they cut me a check no questions ask. I’m not sure if I’m paying more than some other companies but I’m completely satisfied with Hagerty.

Most the listed companies have a pretty good reputation for claims. Id skip Geico
Interesting, we've been with Geico for years but never had a claim. Our homeowners took a big jump so I thought while I'm shopping for insurance, might as well do both.
I just covered my 65 coupe with Grundy with $60K value for $560/year. Just got a quote from AM today (local classic ins guy), some $60K value for $325/year. Anyone ever have a claim experience with AM?
