Just installed one in my '66, it's the same bulb as is in the left or right side courtesy light in the front, installs the same way . . . . . but as I recall it's a reach to the back of the car . . . .
It's not like a dome light. I's the same as those at the front in the foot wells. Mounts with a small screw into the metal frame. Paragon Corvette has the bracket. #11969K $9.00 Dennis

Just noticed your photo is of a C3, not sure if you're referring to a C2 or C3. My response is for a C2 convertible, a C3 may be different, don't know . . . . just sayin' . . . . but, since you do refer to your '65, I'm assuming that's the one . . as mentioned in your first post . . . .
And, as Bluestripe says, the bulb holder mounts at the top rear with a small screw. The bulb installs into the holder in the same manner as the left or right courtesy lights, insert bulb, push, and twist to the right. You may need to check to see if the bulb holder and/or wiring is in place .

Make SURE you use a two prong bulb (90) like used in the courtesy lights. If you use a single prong bulb it will short the base to ground and blow the fuse for the brake/courtesy lights.
