That’s exactly what I intend to do, ordered the bullet last night. Didn’t realize there was a seal inside it, learn something new every day. As also mentioned, I intend to drain some fluid out of the tranny which should also help.
Thanks everyone!
I’m not sure how you can overfill the transmission. If you add too much it’ll run out the fill hole.
I know on a T10 they tell you to fill it 1/2” below the fill hole, perhaps for this reason. However, I figured they would have fixed their error by then on the Muncie, but maybe not.
Replace the "bullet" they're cheap and easy to install...
Replace the driven plastic gear as well. It can get a slight groove worn into it. Also if you do buy a new bullet (still available at your chevy dealer) the do not come with the o-ring on the outside, but do have a new inner lip seal. Parts to rebuild the original bullet are available on the web.

I ordered the bullet from Paragon, which includes the inner seal and the outside O ring. Don’t know yet which plastic gear I need, but it will be new.
thanks!
I accidentally bent the bracket for the left vent cable. It looks like it’s made from pot metal so I’m afraid to try to bend it back. Is there a way to do this without breaking?
Had my speedo and tach rebuilt by Bob's Speedometer in Howell, MI don't do one without the other. Chances are if the bearings are bad in one the other is or near the same. Pull the cluster and ship without disassembling. Cost me about $550 bucks. They have a web site where you can ask questions.
Everything is back together and didn’t scratch up the steering column at all this time, the powder coating helped tremendously!
Installed a blue gear and new bullet to start off, speedometer & tach works great, but the speedo is off. Speedo reads 60, actually doing 65 so ordered a red gear this morning. Thanks to all who helped me on this, but I still have a question from post 29, how can I bend this bracket without breaking?
I intend to. The question was do I have to remove the entire instrument panel to remove speedo/tach cluster, and I didn’t. I’m sending it to Joe Ray in Little Rock to have both checked out.
So far I am, wasn’t cheap but worth it if it’s the last time I have to mess with it. Currently waiting on a plastic 21 tooth gear to make it read right.
