Default Which side up?

I’m replacing the rear weatherstrip on my ‘65 auxiliary hardtop. Unfortunately I’m not sure which side goes up - left or right; can anyone help?

Just did 2 in the last year. Remember the question though. I went back to the take off and found the answer.

The closed tube part goes in the rear bow. The blade part contacts the deck lid.

It's for a hardtop rear bow - the two rubber flaps go around the metal bow, but I'm unsure whether the longer side is up or the shorter side.

Here is my ORIGINAL rear rubber seal as it came off the car:

Not sure if this helps. Its in bad shape. Best I can tell, long flap outside?

I hope that helps,
Ted

Follow up...
I pulled out the new seal and laid it up on the bow. I found that my new seal lays up better with the long flap on the outside which matches how my original was installed. I think it's more to do with the shape of the seal than 'flap length'.

The seal isn't uniform in its construction.

The 'long flap' side has a thicker base between the channel and the hollow 'tube' of the seal.

In the photo above you can see the indentation left from the clip from the stainless trim (outside).

In the photo above you can see the indentation left from the flat black metal trim strip which runs along the interior of the top and the seal.

Longer / thicker portion outside. Final Answer.
