I guess everyone saw our first flight a few weeks ago (If not, I can post the videos again). We haven't been able to make another flight yet. We have some vibration issues with the left engine----------------------WHICH WE HAVE DETERMINED FROM TROUBLE SHOOTING, IT IS IGNITION. We have removed the left engine cowling, pulled all 36 plugs and removed the magneto covers. So far, we haven't found a smoking gun, but I'm convinced we will. And now with this Arctic weather coming through, it's going to be a while before we can even pull the plane out to run engines again.
Did you have the vibration during the first flight? Or did it start afterwards?
I know you guys will figure it out.
Actually, we did 2 flights that day. The first was only about 15min, up, around the pattern and landing. we made a couple of adjustments on the prop governor, thinking that was the the problem. Then we took it back up for about 1hr and put it through its paces. Still had the vibration. The vibration is not bad, but compared to the right engine, it just is not as smooth.
Before we fly again, we are going to inspect and double check everything. When this Arctic weather clears, we will pull it outside, run the engines and see if the vibration is gone. Radials engines inherently have some vibration. But the left engine just is not as smooth as the right one and they should run equally.
