Default Fuel Pump Question

The 66 has a 350 Hp 327 in the engine bay [ original block ] Unlikely it is the original fuel pump which is now needing replacement . There are a myriad of choices from suppliers like Jegs [ house brand ] to Carter , Edelbock etc . with prices from $30 to $200 . This is not a ' NCRS ' matching numbers car so thought a Carter pump would do the job for about $50 . [ Made in USA not China or Taiwan ] They have a selection of pumps all supposedly ok for a small block .[ but are they? ] I think the correct one might be a M4891 .Has anyone recently replaced their pump and what did you choose ?

I bought a rebuild original from Corvette Central, the first retailer to get one in stock after all the usual sellers reported nothing available.

I think you 66 Corvette has a screw together fuel pump so do some research and have it rebuilt/overhauled. There are people that can do this for you and you will be happy that you kept the good old GM pump.

IF you buy a new pump, make sure the inlet and outlet on the new pump is the same as yours. Some of the clerks at the parts shacks don't care. It is very critical with the C2 due to the tight quarters. They are available at your local parts shack if you aren't worried about trailer queen perfect.

yes, 300 bucks corvette markup is absurd for a fuel pump all you want is size, mounting, inlet and outlet size and position to be exactly the same.. else you are tripling your install effort.
