67 with TIC ignition. Sometimes motor fires up and dies when letting off the key. Hooked timing light up and light stops when let off. At times it’s ok and runs. Where’s to start looking?
Typically, this would occur if your ballast resistor was bad or had a bad connection. But I don't know if this would apply to your ignition because I don't know if you use one.
Check the wires on your ignition switch or the switch itself. Take it out of the dash but leave wires hooked up. Try to start the car and jiggle the connections. See if you can find a loose connection.

There is a resister wire in the TI harness I believe - not sure if it ever burns in two or not and how that might affect operation. Probably not relevant.

I think that may be the white wire, it does get warm. Test light told there is power there. It’s probably a connection somewhere. Clean ignition switch next.
thanks

If you have K66 transistor ignition from Mother General please inspect the connector at the TI AMP. Pull it off by its boot, look, and re-seat. This has fixed a few with your symptoms including my own. Let us know.
(There are two ballast wires in this system and not my first suspect, always check a connector/terminal first).

what is test procedure on ignition switch ?

what is test procedure on ignition switch ?

Same ignition switch as a non TI car. Same test procedure. First verify all connections at TI amp, coil & ignition switch. Get out your wiring diagram and your V-ohm meter and verify 12 V on the ignition terminal of the switch when in ON position. You could have a bad switch - but I suspect the TI amp connector first with that symptom.
T connector white wire at firewall needs some work. Grabbed it and got power to TI unit. Need new one.
thanks
