Just an FYI. I ordered one and got it today. The place I got it from said it was discontinued so I check Elgin website and part number not found in search.

Good info on this thread. I've been looking for a replacement cam for my L76 which currently has a Comp Cams 270H installed. Just ordered up ELGE904PMDL from Competition Products - it was still in stock. This kit includes the direct lube solid lifters. https://www.competitionproducts.com/.../#.YFPaSK9KiUk

Competition Products contacted me and this cam is out of stock. No date on more arriving. I found a new one on Ebay and ordered it up. Hopefully that one shows up. Who knew these cams would ever be hard to find?

I bought on a few months back from Howard’s cams, original 1970 specs AND it is “parkerized” like they were when new.
I’ve been using SD1004 as the z-28 valve spring for flat tappet under .525 lift BUT check with cam mfg for their specs. Spring specs at Scoggin Dickey Chevrolet.
Competition Products cam page says not to run OEM valve springs with the LT-1 Elgin cam. So what valve springs are you guys running with the LT-1 cam?
BULL...T!!!
The second design 327 springs, 3911068 (Sealed Power VS-677) are good for at least 7000. They went into production in '67 and used at least through '79. Remember, SHP cams, both mechanical and hydraulic lifter used the SAME valve springs as base engines.
Seat force is low eighties pounds and about 200 open. If you have a real LT-1 cam, manufactured to the GM blueprint, that's all you need. Higher force springs will just increase the probability of wiping lobes, but these aftermarket outfits always want you to use gorilla springs, which is an utterly clueless recommendation.
Set them up with .090-100" coil bind clearance and they are good to 7200, but you need massaged heads to have usable power over about 6500.

I'm on strike two for scoring an LT1 camshaft. Now the Ebay seller contacted me to say they are refunding my payment.
Anyone have a source for the LT1 cam?

Agreed. I’m running stock springs with my LT-1cam, I run it hard, definitely sees 6500 RPMs on a regular basis. I have 20,000 miles on the engine with no issues.

This is where I got my LT 1 cam but they are all out of stock and backordered.
Here is one though,
Not an LT 1 but an Elgin copy of the GM 151, about a step down from the LT 1 but still a very nice hyd street cam. https://www.ebay.com/itm/ELGIN-Perfo...1/264643893105

Thanks guys - much appreciated. After seeing 68hemi's post I was able to find Howard's LT1 copy with a set of their direct lube solid lifters at Competition Products. I called them before ordering it to make sure it was in stock. https://www.competitionproducts.com/.../#.YF0Wnq9KiUk
UPS is showing it should be here tomorrow.
So, I called Comp Cams today 3/26/21 and he said "nope".. before I even got all the part number out of my mouth. He checked in the Howard cams book too and they are not in stock...Seems like the manufacturer is not up and running.
