Would you buy a C2 with these cracks/scratches?
Hello! I'm in the process of searching for a 1967 Corvette. I thought I found 'the one', but today the place
sent me these pictures (almost as an after thought). Are these cracks/scratches a deal-breaker? I
was going to send someone to look at the car (since it's in Canada and we're in New York), but now I'm
not sure I should. Would this take a lot of bodywork? I just want a 'driver' '67 (not a show car), but I also
don't want a money-pit. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Would depend on what you are actually paying for the car, the condition of the rest of the car, size of the engine, transmission type, list of options, history of the car, etc. The more information you provide to the CF gurus the more accurate information you will get if it’s a dealbreaker.

You will get other input I'm sure but I bought one that had similar issues. Mechanically mine was in decent shape but the fiberglass needed work. I could have driven it as is with very minor maintenance. I chose to have the body repaired and repainted. It can be expensive. Most on here will tell you to get a professional inspection and then you can decide if it's worth the money they are asking.

Welcome to the forum! That’s a pretty good size crack, but what lurks underneath. Have them send pics of the bonding strip in the fender well. Some body shops might be able to repair and blend but that metallic paint will be hard to match, without seeing the blended area. More than likely, the whole front end will need to be painted. Good luck with your search.

Welcome to the CF. I sure hope you are spending money on a C-2 experienced person to inspect this car for the more serious side of things. Things such as bird cage rust out, frame kick area rust out. Non original engine/transmission, mismatched components etc. The cracks may be minor, or they may hide poor body work beyond tire interference of a fender lip. Body work done by a person/shop that knows what they are doing and cares about the end product is not going to be inexpensive. I hope things go well for you. If you still need a qualified person to do the inspection, as for such here on the CF. Dennis

It would certainly make me cautious of other potential unknown body flaws, as fiberglass repair can be very expensive and tough to have a good paint color blend with other sections of the car.

Ok
By increasing the wheel diameter (and maintaining the original overall diameter), the height of the tire side wall deceases. This has the effect of less tire sway or roll, and increases the stability or cornering ability of your ride.

I don’t like that long crack in the middle of the wheel well opening. That might suggest one of those old-time half nose repairs they did years ago. If you send an inspector, tell him to look for that.

If I were doing the repair shown here, I would glass the back with 3 feathered layers of glass and then grind down the outside until I hit the new glass, then build it up with 2 or more layers of mat.
(When the inside is properly feathered and smooth, the repair will hardly show if you drive over someone's head that got stuck up there checking out your work!)
