Battery
Trying to find a battery for my 61 that is the right size. I want to use the orig. hold down bracket with the heat shield. I am looking for a sealed top and black battery. the ones I have looked at have the strap and the strap bracket makes the battery to wide and the hold down won't sit down tight. or the battery is to low. what are you using?

Automotive batteries are all standard sizes. Your Corvette uses a Group 24, which don't have a strap. You can buy one of those at Walmart for as little as 50 bucks. It's black, made by Johnson Controls. Peel off the stick on labels and you have a plain black battery. Many battery "brands" you see are the same Johnson Controls piece... just different stick on labels. With good care I've gotten up to 18 years out of these batteries.

I spoke w/ Costco abt trimming the handles and warranty - no problem. But you need a flat top and most have the 3 gang vent caps that stick up. Interstate makes one (black, flat top w/ caps recessed, size 24) but not that they carry.
