My best guess is that the setting tape is old and dried out as well as everything else being either loose and or worn.
Front verticals felt runner and rear fabric felt like material that glues to the rear Vertical track.
In addition there are the otter seal and fuzzie trim that is stapled to the door panel.
And lastly the upper stop.
these wearable items items all keep the door glass snug in place. The mechanical stops and bumpers are for alignment positions.
A worn window regulator will cause slack or dead spots in the up down movement.
