YEP, you can even take the internals from the 55 amp and put in the 37 amp if you have the right numbers you want to save. I heard there is also an outfit that can boost the output above 55 amp, but I don't have the info.

I upgraded my original 37A correct date alternator to 100 Amp myself or you can have it done for you by a local shop. If you are going to do that, map out your current draw (if you have added items) and figure out the maximum load it will draw to see if you need to upgrade the original red wire from the alternator to a heavier gage.
