Long story but my rebuilt “Original” L79 67 coupe engine froze an intake valve. It is at the shop (A new shop) and I stopped by and was shown the stuck #3 intake. I got to looking at the heads and casting numbers and was wondering where these were when they left GM
Right casting looks like 8890462 over H 166. GM 3
.Left casting looks like 8890462. K 166. GM 12
RH 3890462, H is August month, 16th day, 1966, GM3 is the pattern number for mold used when head was poured at Saginaw Grey Iron
LH 3890462, K is November, 16th day, 1966, GM12 pattern number

wow.... if someone changes a camel hump head because of a dating inconsistency, that is taking obsessive/compulsive to a whole new level. You sure don’t want to look under the valve covers of my 63.

I have no plan to change it. I just wanted to know exactly what I have. This is indication the motor has had some serious fault that was fixed by replacing one head.
