Default Mecum C2s

Some pretty high prices for some of the Mecum Indy C2s. Higher prices for extra or improved badges?

Both cars seem nice. Noticed that the accelerator rods on both cars appear to be straight. Thought 67's SB had the accelerator rod with a slight bend??

Love the $93500 for a base model, no option '67 convertible with a '66 hood. Prices are going through the roof. Monopoly money.

One of the things I like about a 67 is lack of emblems.

I noticed the underside pic showed the fiber glass a dark gray. Or is that painted?

Looks good whatever the finish

That '66 emblem on the hood of the '67 sticks out like a sore thumb. What Corvette restorer would've done that?

I'm no NCRS judge or Vette appraiser. If even I can notice the surface "discrepancies" and that prices are wacko, there's something beyond the normal Mecum crazy going on.

Well, we're in the seasonally adjusted higher selling price time for corvettes and classics in general. Spring and summer are always the hardest times to find good buys IMHO. Prices always seem to go up after winter and come down after Christmas. But, looking at recent BAT selling prices and the asking prices for C1 or C2's all over the internet, it's very evident that prices have gone up in the past few years, instead of down. Where is all this foolish, uneducated buying money coming from?

Both of these cars look nice, but they brought money that I would expect only high award cars to bring and you guys have already identified issues with both, so what would a really good inspection reveal?

Very high stock market and real estate valuations is my guess.

Absolutely right on for real estate prices. Son looking for a new house and pricing has escalated ridiculously in the past year. Houses now selling in hours and bringing record money. It seems to be a feeding frenzy on everything.

The black 67 had a lot of minor issues. Corvette crossed flag emblems on the fenders is not correct for a 67 and many minor issues under the hood too but one that stood out was the fuel line/filter to the carb. Wonder what the owner was looking to get because 70k seemed to be a good price.

they say factory code 900 but doesn't say factory applied trim tag.... the speedo and tach looks like they been out of the cluster but the small gauges look to be untouched. the fender emblems if attached with studs would be a huge mess to fix correctly and why would you do that?

I agree. Plus, if you have leather seat option, wouldn't you want to make sure it is mentioned in the write-up? Unless, it was a standard vinyl and shows that on the trim tag.

a selling point would have been a good picture of the trim tag. unless your trying to hide something

Before I'd get all interested in "originality", I'd like pictures of the usual crack areas, as the silver car has cracks in the rear plate area. On BAT there are almost always photos of these areas. Granted, in person auction, but some bid remotely. Never did a high end auction (been to McCormiks in Palm Springs twice), so maybe more pics are available. Anyway, first things first - does it need $20 k in paint, or just "flags" redone?

Extra emblems on a 67 is like putting earrings on the Mona Lisa.

$60k high bid numbers match big block?

I would love to know what's wrong here. 'cause there's something turning off buys... big time.
