Default Is that normal ???

Hello
The top of the front part of the window guides of my 58 stick-out a bit from the windscreen frame.
I assume that as they are here to guide the window when moving up and as the windows are flat, they cannot be bent... But still, it looks a bit funny.
Do you have the same on your cars ? Is that normal ?
Thankssssss !

The pics might be exaggerating the condition but, no, they shouldn’t stick out that much. Need to be adjusted.

You will have to decide which you want aligned, the door or the window. Remember these cars are over 60 years old and unless you have owned it all its life, hard telling what has been done to it. Also they didn't fit perfect from the factory! I'm not sure if you can put washers in the bottom of window frame to tilt it in a little. Hopefully someone else will chime in that had this problem.

As you said, the glass won't bend to fit a curve, so it has to stick out. Your pictures exaggerate the amount for two reasons. One, the angle looks worse than if you look straight on. And two, the rubber at the top isn't filling the gap like on mine. I don't know if the 58 uses a different rubber there or if mine is squished after many years, but here are some pictures from different angles. There's no adjustment if the frame is aligned at the bottom. You might be able to tilt in the frame a little, but you have to take into account the glass being straight. Maybe someone who has worked in this area could verify. I think it's just the way they designed it to be.

There is an adjustment for this and I believe it details it in the ST-12. Do you have that manual?

I have the ST-12 and it doesn't mention adjustment tilt. Just remove and install. There are shims, but they show at the bottom for up and down. At any rate, you can't tilt the top of your window frame in any more because in your picture from the rear, you can see the chrome column is already against the windshield frame. As I said earlier, the only difference I see is the different rubber shape at the top. There's not going to be a tight seal anywhere around the top, it's going to leak and whistle in the wind, so I would do nothing. In fact, I have already done that on mine.

That is definitely not proper. There IS an adjustment for that without moving your door. At the very bottom of the window track there is 1 bolt that attaches this track to the door. If you loosen that bolt you can angle the top of the door post inward by pushing the track outward.

Good Luck! Joe

Take a look at your window with the top up. If it's already snug, tilting the track in at the top will make the window misalign with the top and now you're in to top adjustment. If you have a gap between the top of the glass and the rubber on the top, maybe, maybe it could be moved a little..

FWIW, there was very little if any misalignment when i got my car in 1974, which had the original weather strip.

The original weatherstrip was softer than the repop strip i put in a couple times, once about 1986 and again in 2009.
The harder weather strip pushes the top out more than it should.

Mine isn't bad, but it still isn't as nice as it was with the original 13 YO weather strip, it's close, though., but the 2009 weather strip was softer than the 1986 weatherstrip, IIRC, i got the 2009 stuff form Corvette Rubber. The Corvette Rubber windshield gasket was far superior to the windshield gasket I put in in 1986, also, the CR gasket hasn't cracked at all yet. The 1986 gasket was cracking and shrinking in a year.
