Default 54 Heat Riser

Looking for opinions from anyone with experience either way. When I did the disassembly, the heat riser was blocked off with the metal plate in the first picture. I am inclined to restore the heat riser to full function with a stock gasket as in the second picture, I've done the same for my 216 and other 235. Is there something unique about the Corvette 235 that I should reconsider and install the block? I would appreciate any thoughts.

You will want to put the block off plate back in
If not there is way too much heat put into the intake
in order - exhaust manifold, gasket, heat block off plate, intake
All should be installed on the engine and painted together with the bolts and clamps.
