Has anybody here seen a set, or purchased a set of Halibrand 5 spoke wheels? I happened by their webiste, http://www.halibrand.com and noticed that they have a pretty good looking 5 spoke wheel, similar to the Torque Thrust.
Just curious to see if anybody has feedback, positive or negative.
The link is bad, just need to remove the comma at the end halibrand.com, ;)
They look similar to TTII but almost double the price. They have nice wheels on the site, I like the Oval track in the 17inch variety would like right on a midyear with the spinners but almost $2,000.
I'm not positive, but I thought that the Halibrand wheels interfered with the Brake calipers. When I was looking, I thought that they were the same basic design (similar specs) to the original Torque Thrusts.
Talk to a person there and see if they will assure you 100% that the wheels will not hit your brake calipers.
I would do a real good search of some street rod forums to make sure they are up and running for sure. When I was looking for wheels I was lead to believe that they had gone out of business and it was not pretty.

Halibrand started in the earley 60s has ben sold a couple times. I have a vintage set that I would not part with verry good wheel. But they are having problemns. Mine are the sprint style. Look in street roder or rod and costum there were several shops that were dealers thet might have some left.
They are down the road from me 30 miles or so. The have been bought and sold a couple of times the past 3-5 years. I have heard that they are trying to get going again after shutting down for a while.
The wheels that you are looking at must be machined to clear the calipers. I believe it's a $20-$30 per wheel adder.
I seem to remember some threads a while back about some members getting out of round wheels. Not 100% on that, you may want to search it.
They have an open house / car show every year and discount minor blems at around $500 per set of 4. Minus caps and nuts. You really have to look for the blemish, usually a buffing burn or more often something on the back side.
