I am assembling my recently painted 61 and had another door installed on the drivers side.
I was putting on the door sill and noticed the lower bolt/screw was loose. I went to tighten it and it spun and I was able to pull it out.
The body used 'dum dum' to hold it in and there are no threads in the hole, only fiberglass.
Is there a way to get a nut back there to hold the bolt/screw in?
Thanks,
Joe
correct
it is a caged nut that is riveted to the fiberglass
If you wanted to cheat - you could remove the kick panel and put in a longer machine screw and then a washer / lock washer and nut on the back side of the caged nut
other wise it is drill out the rivets and re rivet in a nut caged nut
That will require removing the door to replace the cage by riveting. Might be a good time to cheat and come through the side.
I just had the car painted and all the gaps look good so I will cheat and see when I remove the kick panel and see if I can get the nut and washer on the back.
Thanks everyone.

Joe,
When I took mine apart, I had two bolts with nuts/washer on the backside. It can be done, but takes patience and dexterity. You got this!
I removed the kick panel, bored a 1" hole in the fiberglass and installed a nut and washer.
All it good and I now can continue assembling the car.
Thanks everyone.
