Default Which engine with 1966 Convertible?

There were 27,720 1966 Corvette convertibles produced.
Does anyone know how many of them came with a 327-300, (L79) 327-350, (L36) 427-390, or (L72) 427-425?

Vette Facts does offer a great deal of information but nothing I can see regarding the number of 1966 Corvette convertibles with each engine.

Sharpen your pencil, and crunch the numbers. All you can do is extrapolate.
There were 27,720 TOTAL 1966 Corvettes, 17,762 were Convertibles. 9958 were Coupes.
64% were Convertibles. 36% were Coupes

Of the TOTAL :
7591 were L79 64% = 4558 Convertibles
5116 were L36. 64% = 3274 Convertibles
5258 were L72. 64% = 3365 Convertibles
9755 were 300hp 64% = 6243 Convertibles

Alright, I did the extrapolation math for you. The numbers above are just an educated guess.
The precise numbers apparently were not recorded.

Add to that the fact that being a coupe or convertible doesn't mean that the percentages match. Maybe more coupes ordered L79, or maybe more convertibles. No records. It's not extrapolation, it's a guess based on a POSSIBILITY that the percentage of each engine matches the percentage that were coupe or convertible, they do not.

That's called extrapolation. And since there are no records, how do you know the percentages don't hold?

That is because what you have stated is correct so no reason for anyone else to chime in.

These threads that ask for these numbers that do not exist are a joke. ANYTHING that people want to list as possibilities are just unfounded guesses and usually what they WANT them to be.

Seems I touched a nerve. I've checked with the National Corvette Museum. They have a great partnership with GM. Not sure I'll share.

Not really a nerve. These questions are asked all of the time and members here are happy to help. You got the best info available on this subject. Sorry if you got butt hurt. You can’t wear your feelings on your sleeve in this forum.
I don’t know what you mean by “share” but if it is about the NCM info it is available to anyone that wants to look and most here are well aware of it.

BTW, I just purchased a Nassau blue 66 convertible L72 and I could care less how many were made verses coupes.

Good luck with that. No body has those original records to that level of detail , unless it was a car delivered in Canada. GM destroyed the US records decades ago when Corvette production left St Louis. Many authors and researchers have looked for them- nada.

What NCRS (not NCM) does have is info by VIN as to what zone and dealer the car was delivered to, nothing more. No need for you to be secretive or share; most who care already know that. That is available to NCRS members for a fee.

Thanks anyway.......,

A simple question was asked and a good guess was offered, many twists were bounced around but I did not see any reason for anyone to be upset other than the butt comment which is a little rude but not bad.

A simple thanks for offering a best guess answer was in order.

No need to be offended just because the info you wanted doesn’t exist.

Actually this was a straight forward and correct answer. The discussion could have ended here.

The numbers posted by 65hihp are the exact same numbers found in the NCRS Corvette Spec Guide.
I believe they are as accurate as possible.

The numbers are conclusions based on facts not in existence. They would only be accurate if the percentages of each option built were consistent for every possibility built. The cars could be ordered with desired options regardless of coupe or convertible, color, etc.at the dealer or buyer's whim.
