I am looking at a car w this engine.
casting is 8756519
stamping isTT2230
could someone tell me what is this small block

The casting number was used in at least 58-61 Corvettes, it's a 283. The engine stamping as typed doesn't make sense for that though. Can you post a picture of the stamp pad on the engine?

It's a 283 that came with a 2bbl carb, from a 58-64 passenger car. the engine ***'y date is 12-23 of whichever year is in the block casting date, if the stamp is correct. Most were 170 hp.
