I am replacing the back up lights and tail lights with LED on my 67 L79. I read here that I should also replace the flasher with an electronic flasher. I also remember reading somewhere here (cannot find it now for the life of me) that some wires needed to be reversed???
I bought a CEC Industries EF32RL Flasher from Amazon. It comes with one black wire hanging and I assume that is a ground. Am I supposed to switch some other wirr as well?
I have those and you just ground the black wire. As I recall, you don't have to reverse the wires in the plastic connector as the polarity is correct for R66. Put it in, ground it, and give it a try. If you have problems, reverse the wires in the plastic connector.
I have that flasher and I had to reverse my wires. I have a '66. Use a small, thin blade screwdriver to push in the little prong on the terminal in the plastic connector. Swap the wires, if necessary, and you are good to go. Good luck!
If you're only replacing the tail lights, you don't necessarily need to replace your flasher. Try it. I didn't need to replace the flasher until I used LED's on the front turn signals, also.
so , i have a 65 standard vet, i can put led bulbs in the back and i dont half to change any thing elts out. that will give me 4 good brake lights and 2 good back up lights?

No, not on a standard 65. You'd have to have 6 sockets back there.
For the $12 or so to buy the electronic flasher, you are saving a penny to spend many hours of frustration in trying to resolve your issue with LED lights. Incandescent bulbs get dimmer with reduced voltage. LEDs just shut off if they don't get the minimum voltage they are designed for. Brighter when things are right, but nothing when things are not.
It is your pennies.
