Default LED tail lights

I've removed my gas tank, and noticed that the tail lights are easier to access..
My bezels are pitted, and need to be replaced..
Any thoughts on LED tail lights, or should I stick with the old 1157's?

Thanx

I bought several sets of these, they work very well with stock flashers too.....https://www.ecklerscorvette.com/1961...-189951-1.html

That is probably the way to go since you are replacing the bezels. If not, I just replaced the 1157s with Superbrite LEDs on my 64.

On my ‘64, some of the lenses were cracked and all were hazy. I used the complete assemblies from Zip and painted the oem bezels black as that was on my list regardless.

Here are some other images.

These are the front parking lights with the oem housings and retainers painted flat black.

Fronts assembled…

…installed…

…and on.

The rear on. The picture makes them look almost white. They are not, but they are about 3XL brighter red than stock.

Years ago I bought a complete set from a member here, that has since been banned, for my 67 and I constantly get comment how bright and noticeable they are. They are complete set of LED's mounted into a new lens and come with the pigtail for easy installation.

I did the headlights also. One benefit here is that my oem headlight switch was toast and I had to use one of the aftermarket ones with the known lightweight internal CB that causes original or halogen headlights to flicker. LEDs are significantly brighter and drawn significantly less current eliminating the flickering.

I used 1157 conversion bulbs from Superbright. I like them a lot.
Note that the ones I got throw all the light out the back, they weren't an omni directional tower, as the inside of C1 housings is non-reflective, and the towers would not be as bright.

Rant about LED circuit board LED assemblies: Right brake light went out on mt 2010 Taco. The turn indicator and the back up indicator are replaceable bulbs. The tail light and brake light are led bulbs on a circuit board, that is sealed inside the tail light housing.
$77 later for a whole new tail light housing, my RH brake light works again.

I just purchased led lights for my 48 Chrysler. (6 volt)
I opted for red led's for the back as white ones will sometimes make the brake light look pink.
For the front, I chose warm white so that it would be period correct. ($6 each)
The led flasher was $18. LEDLight, com

I also purchased led headlights (6 volts) with a normal looking glass lens from
Octane lighting (An E Bay Seller) 2/ $106

Stock??

LED Infused lenses in outer brake light locations - stock. SuperBrite red LED bulbs in backup light locations with stock white lenses. Both brighter than stock / 1157.

Just an option. I gave up backup lights for additional brake lights without modifying the wiring harness.
