Hallo out there.
I have a leaking rear brake calliper. The problem is that the mounting bolts are stuck. I’ve used a 50cm bar and struggeld hard but couldn’t loose them. A little to close to the petroltank to use propan to heat.
An idea come up. Is it possible to restore it if I split it in place and remove the disk?
As long as you do not have fumes, heating the bolts is ok with a small hand held torch. First, try using a penetrant, let it sit a day or two. Then hit it several times with a hammer. The liquid and the hammering should break it loose. Dennis
Have you applied Liquid Wrench or Bead Blaster to the bolt and threads for a few days? I have always had success by using an impact wrench with a six point socket. Sometimes tightening the bolt a fraction can break a rust bond. The bolts should be able to take the punishment as they should be grade 8. You could also try putting an extension pipe on the breaker bar. Jerry
