I'm building a '67 restomod with a LS3 (430hp), Tremec 5-speed, ac, ps, pb, etc.
I want to use a sealed battery.
What battery should I used?
I've heard the Optima's are not what they used to be.

I basically have a 64 with the same set up as your Restomod.
My 1st battery was an Optima and it only lasted 2 years but with the warranty I went ahead - against my better judgment- and replaced it for another 2 years. I then upgraded to the Odyssey AGM brand for the last 4 years and these batteries are great - would definitely recommend it.
now after 4 years and a bad ground with the Corvette, I killed that battery. Because of the price point of the Odyssey, I just replaced it with an Oreillys AGM to save a few bucks (with a 3 year warranty). So far so good !
I see what you mean... If It has only been a short period of time (say a week) might as well ask the shop if they will do an exchange or shop credit? Just a thought.
I put a LI-Ion batt in my Ferrari, mostly because it weighs a whole bunch less, and a heavy lead acid batt is real hard to get out of where they placed it. It was an Antigravity brand battery.
It charges just fine with the alternator, it doesn't need any special charging circuits, that all in the battery.
Biggest thing is make sure you get the +/- connection in the right place.
They offer them either side. I would suggest you make simple sketch showing terminal locations front/back/terminal position and e-mail that to them if you buy one. They aren't cheap, but if they last 8-10 years (they should), they are break even with a 3 Optimal AGMs
