I know this has probably been beat to death but I could sure use some assistance. I have a 62 that my tail lights and instrument lights decided to not work. My head lights, turn signals, brake lights all work. Fuses check out ok. Getting 12 volts to the fuses. Just can’t seem to figure out why the others won’t work. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.
Do you have 12v on BOTH sides of the tail light fuse? How about on the clips that hold the tail lamp fuse? If you pull the headlights to the park or on position, you should have 12v on BOTH sides and on both sides of the clips that hold the fuse. You could have a fuse bad in the end cap, or the clips that hold the fuse could be loose or corroded. If you have 12v on both sides, the headlight switch is working and sending the voltage. Not much else in the tail lamp circuit. There is an additional fuse marked INST that will kill the dash lights, but if the tail lamp fuse is bad (or loose) it will kill BOTH the tail lights and the dash lights. The INST fuse gets it's 12v from the tail light fuse.

yes I have 12v at the fuse.the fuse box is new so there isn’t any corrosion.I pulled both fuses and they look good.
Went back and checked again with fuse pulled and headlight switch on I’m only getting 12v on one side of the fuse holder. Shouldn’t I be getting 12v on both sides?

Read my post again with the troubleshooting and do it with the fuse in. You have to have 12 volts on both sides of the fuse, looking at the fuse won't tell you anything. I'm not going to go any further until you verify 12 volts on both sides of the tail light fuse.

getting 12v out of both ends of the tail light fuse and nothing on the instrument fuse
I was going to take the hl switch out and check it. Found out it was loose so I tightened it up and then reached up to the top of the switch and press down on the connectors and low and behold one of them wasn’t on good. Everything working great now. Thanks for all the input
