Who on here has a '64?

I know '64's are typically considered the least desirable & valuable C2 and I'm probably partial to them because it's the only C2 I've ever had, but I think the false fender vents on the early cars look nicer than the gills on the later cars and I never cared for the chrome hood inserts on the '63. I think the split window of the '63 is nicer looking than the regular window, but I would never buy a non-convertible Corvette anyway.
A '64 roadster with a stinger hood gets my vote for best looking Corvette.

I honestly think from a style standpoint, they're the best of the bunch. The '63 split window is "iconic" but the cookie sheet hood grilles and chrome windshield molding look tacky in my opinion. The '65 and later side louvers just look less refined and more tacked on. Additionally, the '64 had by far the best interior, and gauge cluster of the bunch. Lastly, the '64 L76 is probably the best GEN 1 SBC they ever produced. Slap some disc brakes from and '65-'67 on your '64 and you've got the best of all worlds!

Of all of the C2's, I think the fake side vents on the 64's look the best and when you stand back and look at them, they flow with the overall design of the car. I also never understood the fake hood grills on the '63's. I understand the evolution of all car designs but sometimes the early ones are the best. The C2's without a doubt are GM's best-looking cars they ever produced. Just look at the blue one above and you will see what I mean about flowing with the overall design.

I had the coves cut when the car was painted and the corners were radiused to avoid stress fractures.
The pics are from when I loaned the car to Wheeler Dealers. At the time it was the fastest thing they had ever driven. When Mike came back he said "I think I wet myself a little on that one."
Watch from 0:47 - 1:47. This 1 minute took an entire day to shoot because they were just having too much fun with it. Note that this is a boot leg and to get around stuff, everything is flipped left to right.

When my 64 received the Tripple Crown the previous owner got bored and replaced the powerglide with a 700R4 and put in a MSD Atomic EFI. Exactly what I was looking for. So I had it shipped across the atlantic last year.
I'm sure it gets driven a LOT more over here now.

Here's My '64
Just bought this from a collector within walking distance of my house. Driven very little in the last 25 years so I am working out the little things to make it a dependable driver. 300 hp, Power Steering, 4 speed, Posi.

C2 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified 2020
Owner for 51 years
Here is my 1964 Saddle/Saddle Tan Coupe,
equipped with its born with drive train, the wonderful L76 solid lifter engine.
Purchased from the original owner in 1970, she was in storage for 40 years until I completed a frame off restoration in 2019.
It is wonderful to see youngsters fascinated by this unusual car, one they have most likely never seen before. This happened just this morning as I was gassing up. Two young boys stared open mouthed when I started the engine, as their Dad said “Nice Car.”

If this thread was intended to start others on a restoration project - it is starting to work. Without counting, many more cars have been restored than not, probably 2 to 1, and those cars are gorgeous. Thinking

Owned our "PTFI" (Put Together Fuel Injected) coupe for 42 years and 3rd. owner, originally a base 300HP/4Speed. Back in the day F. I. components and KH wheels were some what common with John Eyestone (RIP) having a hand in the build. using a replacement LT-1 in the early 70's. Back on the road in 2021 after 27 years parked in our garage while life gets in the way of life. Thanks Corvette Sports in Sheboygan Falls, WI for getting our Corvette back on the road. Very pleased with the response to this call to post 64 photos.
