Finally got my 383 crate motor installed and it’s like night and day compared to my tired 327. This motors Dyno numbers are 458 hp and 460 if lbs torque. This car is becoming more fun to drive by the day.

I’ve had more than a few customers tell me this after convincing them to go bigger was like pulling teeth. I still like a high winding shorter stroke, but on the street, torque is king.

Be careful with all that motor. I just put a 383 in my '61 and promptly bent the leaf springs. The traction bars are coming next week! But what a great motor.

A couple of hundred more horsepower will certainly make your Corvette more fun to drive.
Enjoy and again be careful.

I'm looking at a 383 for my '71. How does it mate up with a 700R4?

sorry but I’ve never dealt with that transmission so I really couldn’t say, but being that it’s based off a sbc I wouldn’t think there would be any problems .
