Yeah I know, and agree . It’s just that there’s a segment of us that have been admiring, intensely admiring, and studying, these cars for over 50 years, and consequently every minute thing that’s not correct stands out like a Huge sore thumb. There is no gray, it’s either right, or wrong, lol.
They jump out and yell to me. That’s why I can’t buy the teak wheel I’d love to have.

All,
To rap it up....I got several calls back from Gardner and Highflo......
Have not decided as of yet if I'm doing anything. But the Super Quiet Highflo System with Clamps is less money and saves $100.00 bucks on shipping might be the best shot for me......The clamp assembly does not bother me, in fact being able to disassemble the pipe might be a plus. I would save the installed pipes, which I do not think are Original anyway!!!
Thanks again, all!

I bought a Custom Teak wheel for my 67 because that's what I wanted to see when I got in the drivers seat....I saved the original wheel.....Hell, Life is too short!

And concerning the “super quiet pipes”, you might want to listen to this guys, they’re super quiet all right, but you Can Hear the loss of about 200+? hp

I've got a whole box full of Highflo "clampable" side exhaust out in my garage waiting to be installed. Whichever of us gets the job done first definitely needs to give a write-up.

I will be honest here, my 66 roadster with 390 HP engine has a very nice idle sound with the original GM service replacement N14 with 3000 miles accumulated during the last 20 years. However they are just plain loud and am sure annoying to the neighbours especially on fast idle during a quick warm up. I drive it very little and never on the highway because the noise is insane. I know there are people out there that love them but for anyone new to this game think twice if the car is to be driven fairly regularly. My car is a flight car that came from the factory that way so they will stay. Just saying.

^^^^THIS.
I know there are a lot of die hards here that have had them for years that still love them. OTOH, I think there are certainly others that have had them in the past that are tired of them I know I am. You can get the intended power from the engine with a quite under car system that is robbed by the side pipes. Personally I think the side pipes take away from the streamline look of the midyear’s beautiful body and make it look like a big bellied bass with the SE.

My car got painted over the summer and we had a time finding the exhaust. Like so many other things they simply couldn't be found. Mine came through Volunteer and to be honest I didn't even know or even think about them being "clampable" until you mentioned "clampable". All I knew was the head pipes weren't connected to the mufflers. I just took it for granted they'd have to be fitted and welded. When you mentioned "clampable" a little bell went off in my head so I immediately ran out to my garage and voila, "clampable" side exhaust.
