Default Replacing weld-in pivot bushing

My R upper A arm looked OK, but when I tried screwing in the bushings, they turned in easily by hand and then bottomed out on the cross shaft with the A arm motion taking place between the A arm and the bushing, not the bushing and cross shaft. I've posted a WTB, but I'm wondering how big a deal it is to replace the two weld in bushings? I'm not a welder, but my brother is and since the arm is easy enough to transport, I could have him do it. Do you need to do anything special to be sure everything is aligned? I'm thinking you cannot use the cross shaft as then it would be loose when installed on car. Maybe a dowel?

My bad. I just realized the weld in bushings are for the tower, not the A arm. If the threads in the A arm are shot, it is junk, right?

Im' thinking just a few tack welds is all that necessary. Just enough to keep the bushing case from moving.
