YES. I was just about to ask how old these guys are that they would not know this. Will they be forgetting 9/11 soon as well?
Withall of the old timers on this forum I am REALLY surprise no on mentioned it.
Maybe because this is the C1 C2 Forum, and the JFK assassination topic would more logically belong in the Politics and Religion Forum?

Yes of course, I remember it quite vividly, a very significant (emotional as well) event in America’s history. Showtime aired a two hour piece last night concerning the assassination, it was quite interesting.

Just remember this......GOD rest his Sole, JFK by today's Political standards would be extremely Conservative...........and hated by his own CURRENT Party "LEADERS"!
It seems only our generation remembers and we don’t matter anymore to the media.
Not only don't we matter to the media, you can also add we don't matter to anyone, except the financial planner-types, who zoom in to "help" you manage your life-long saved funds.

So true. I feel ok about my "to the end of life" grubstake. At an early age I began planning for my retirement, it was called WORK.

Really not surprising. This forum is with the exception of the few "younger" contributors is about the only group that lived through that day.
Pearl Harbor is coming up soon. How much attention will that really get? Same as D Day. The only holiday that really gets attention now is Memorial Day. That's only because IMCO it's the unofficial start of summer. Regardless of the efforts of those that try to erase and rewrite history that can't happen. The only thing that they really can do is ignore it. So they do.
I get it about this is really not the forum for these type of comments but again IMCO we are for the most part the "remember when" crowd.

Agree.
I could write a book regarding, however not here….. I’ll just simply state that the degeneration of our country is very saddening, fortunately us who have lived in the 50s 60s through the 90s have experienced existence in the best country the world has ever seen, and during it’s peak years (of the American experience/culture), we should feel very very fortunate….. and pray for the less fortunate, that will have to struggle to exist in/tolerate, the extremely challenging times ahead.
As a seventh grader 58 years ago, I, like all of you, have seen this country roller coaster up, down, and sideways, and now it appears to be at the end of its track, and coming to a halt.
Just ponder this: Every generation has a bunch of old guys [like me] who think the world cannot get any worse and can’t go any further downhill. Then those old guys pass, and the world keeps on going without them, in one form or another.
With that said, everyone has one life to live, so enjoy the holidays and every day while you still can.

OT but something many here might enjoy as things have not really changed throughout history.
I was a freshman in High School when it happened. Through the years, having seen film and pics, the image of Dealy plaza and the Texas school book depository was imprinted in the mind.
In 2017, while passing through Dallas, I was curious to see what the scene looked like. Turning the corner into the plaza I was struck by the reality of actually seeing Dealy plaza and the surrounding area, just as I remembered it from film and pics of years past.
Everything still looks the same as it did in 1963. Dealy plaza was intentionally left the way it is as a memorial to what happened here. The only thing that changed were the trees growing taller.
The 6th floor of the school book depository is now a museum that covers the life and times of JFK. The window from where Oswald fired the fatal shots has cardboard boxes set up similar to what film clips showed from back in the day. It is cordoned off with plexiglass.
From an adjacent window, looking down on Elm street an ‘X’ painted on the road marks the spot where the fatal bullet struck JFK. The distance from where Oswald fired doesn’t appear far…..maybe 200 feet. The presidential limo moving slow down Elm street combined with Oswald’s rating as a marksman made for an easy shot, IMO.
The grassy knoll and the white wall, just off to the right side where the so called ‘second gunman’ fired a frontal head shot was really close to the street. The white wall was perhaps 75 feet away.
Also in the museum is a Carcano rifle similar to the one Oswald used. Back in the day, a Carcano rifle like the one Oswald used could be bought mail order from Klein’s out of Chicago. IIRC, price was $12.50…..scoped was $19.50. Different world it was…..miss those days.
