Information request, Just received from NCRS recently, my 63 fuel tanker was produced 11/5/62, my question is what is dealer code 24 in zone 21 and report suggests vehicle may be export..
any information is appreciated.
Zone 21 - The term " export sales" applied to three different type of Corvette sales
(1) Corvette purchased by a non military person foreigner and/or foreign GM dealership AND THE CAR WAS ACTUALLY SHIPPED OUT OF USA TO FOREIGN DEALERSHIP
(2) Corvettes shipped to Canada in the early Corvette years. (note: I purchased my first new 1967 Corvette and have lived all my life in Canada ) (note: eventually Canadian Corvette dealers got there own Zone & Dealer number)
(3) Corvettes purchased by U.S. military people that were serving overseas at the time they purchased it. MOST IMPORTANT!!!!!! The service person could decide whether he wanted one of two options : a) The Corvette delivered to him overseas OR b) the Corvette delivered to a Chevrolet dealer in the U.S. to be picked up by him when he returned to the U.S. (note: if you check NCRS dealer code site etc you will find examples of choice b with proven tank stickers of Zone 21 Dealer 1and the name on the sticker of the U.S. originating Corvette dealer car was sent to i.e.

Information given to me from NCRS, WISH I had more information. When 8 bought the car in 1968 I was told that the car belonged to a GM executive and was from the Chicago area. The car had a NOM, side pipes no covers, 427 hood, Zo6 shocks, evidence of scoops on quarters, front bumpers removed. Car repainted.
The reason is: GM had to document all cars exported, with the options, etc. That information was stored on Micro Fiche files. Those still exist.
This service takes the information from the micro fiche and gives that info to you.
Here's what GM's monthly shipping report looks like on micro fiche, and what the document from the aforementioned service looks like.
