Default 67 running boards

I'm in the process of reassembling my 67 and was trying to attach the running boards. There is no way I can clip the boards over the mounting strip there just does't seem to be eneough room to attach the board . I stepped the mounting strip out with washers and there still a no go situation . Am I missing something the car is straight and the parts are nos / any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jeff

Some of the last cars to have running boards where made before WWII. Your car has rocker panels. I believe you take off the rear tires and slide them on carefully

I believe some owners have engaged the rear end of the molding on the retainer at the front and slid them on. I have always had side pipes and never had to do that, so not sure if front tire needs to be removed for clearance - but I suspect so. I would tape off the paint in the area and any burrs or sharp edges on the moldings to protect the paint.

I think you’re showing your age terming them running boards. But that’s OK, most of us are far past being thought of as young anymore. Hope they slide on OK.
