My '64 L-75 has mufflers that are so efficient that when stopped in traffic, I cannot tell if the motor is still running without looking at the tach or revving the motor.
I certainly don't want a raunchy, loud exhaust report, I already have that from the '67 with side pipes, but I would like a nice, moderate, throaty rumble.
Any muffler recommendations that meet these parameters would certainly be appreciated. Note: I DO want to retain the classic appearance or at least pretty close...
Don't have em on the '66 yet. That will be with the next muffler replacement. Current set is starting to rot out internally. I have em on a 2016 Mustang, and had em on a 2003 Cobra. Very pleasant sound. Not too quiet, not too loud and definitely not raspy. An H pipe just aft of the transmission crossmember will help as well.
Hey Petdoc: My new Corvette Central stock mufflers are too loud for me. Could you advise what brand or model are your quiet ones? Thanks much!
I too am looking for a muffler (for my 62) that is louder than stock, but quieter than Magnaflow or other 'glasspacks'. From discussions I have read, it sounds like the ORIGINAL factory off road mufflers (which did have internal baffles) would fill the bill, but modern 'reproductions' units are reproduction on the exterior only and are much louder and raspier than original. If anyone knows a source of TRUE reproductions, I'd love to hear it.

My recommendation as well. Put them in last season. I'm very pleased with their sound. Decent when just cruising but when you step on it they come alive
Try this site. Scroll down to the bottom where the Corvettes are and you will get an idea of some of the offerings by this vendor. https://www.gardnerexhaust.com/sound-clips/
This site has several videos of customer cars after install of new exhaust systems. There are two videos of the off road variety along with others.

If you can, we would like to hear your mufflers. Maybe from the seller you can find out the brand name and part # of your mufflers.
Dynomax Super Turbos. Looks like you can fit 20" bodied ones. They flow a lot better than stock mufflers, & better than most of the Flowmaster models, plus they look stock - they are built with spun-locked heads like OE.
I have the under car “chambered pipes” on my L72 and plan to remove all but the exhaust (header pipers off of the manifolds) if thes would work for you. If interested send me a PM and I will video with sound what they sound like for you.
