Default 67 Documentation

Hello,

I'm in search for any original documentation on my 67 Corvette VIN# 194677S117010. It's a sunfire yellow 427/400HP manual transmission convertible with factory A/C. If you know of anyone that may have owned this car or if you know of any resources I can pursue to locate or find original documentation please contact me. I'm happy to pay a finders fee we can discuss depending on what someone might be able to produce. Thank you!

Well, it's not listed in the C2 registry.

If you come across any ownership history, that includes a town name, go to that city FaceBook page and post a question. Something might turn up. Dennis

Are you sure, my records show that Vin was originally a green 300 HP with an auto and Hard top only radio delete.............

.. Just kidding, many have tried for years to find original documentation, you might try one of the locator services to try to find the original owner, or if you are lucky and your car was an export to find the info, do you know where it was first delivered

Doesn't NCRS membership offer info on what dealer it was delivered to originally?

I recently had some luck going to NMVTIS Title History Report and they provided me with title history back to 2000. They don't provide individuals names, but they do provide the State, issue date and odometer reading at the time of the new title. From this report I was able to go to Ohio BMV services where they provided essentially the same information with one big exception. If the title was owned through a dealer, they provide you with the name of that dealer. I was fortunate enough to reach out to that dealer and he in fact had owned the car twice in it's history back to 1995 and for a few dollars he was willing to dig out both of his record files and send me copies of what he had for each transaction. In this group of 16 documents I got title copies the contained names, addresses, etc. Not every state offers this service, so you will need to look into it to see what is available.

From those records I have been able to connect with four prior owners so far and have written the next one back in succession. I hope to hear from her sometime in the near future. Has it resulted in any "factory documentation", no unfortunately. What it has provided me is who did the restoration and what he had done, photos of some of the restoration, frame stencil used, and access to him to ask a boat load of questions as I get to know the car. As someone mentioned earlier, I did submit for an NCRS shippers report and learned that the car was delivered to Loving Chevrolet, in Silver Spring, MD and its official build date of May 12, 1967.

So just in a few months I have narrowed the ownership gap from 1995 back to it's original delivery, so I have a ways to go, but it's been fun to talk with the previous owners, learn how they used the car and get the names of those they purchased the car from and who they sold it to. Give the first step a shot and see what you come up with. If you haven't owned the car for very long there will be some data there. You will have to select a title search company and pay about $10, but it was a great investment for me. I hope it is for you. Good luck!!
