I was going through my 64 AIM to create an index when I came across these pages April and May of 1964.
Was there ever an option in 64 for side pipes or they were preparing for 65?
I am not at my 64 right now, is there a key hole slot in the later 64 chassis?
It's not unreasonable to think (a) that drawings need to be produced many months in advance of production to allow for the solicitation of bids and the creation of tooling and (b) that those pages were put in the '64 AIM by mistake.
And note on those preproduction/early diagrams above, the side pipe covers were attached to the pipes themselves? And the pipes appear to have been two “glass packs” in series? As well as other hardware configurations, different from the final design.
The AIMs are not historical documents as far as what options were actually available. Another example: the 1972 AIM shows the LS-6 engine which wasn't available.
